Showtime’s boxing experts have been studying both fighters day and night leading up to this fight, and they broke down Floyd Mayweather’s defensive prowess and his undefeated record in the ring for the latest edition of CBS Local Sports’ Fan Essentials series.
“He is the fighter of this generation,” said Showtime boxing analyst Steve Farhood. “He’s the best known fighter, it’s a generation where there aren’t that many well known superstar boxers.”
“There’s a reason that (Mayweather’s) 47-0,” said undefeated light heavyweight boxer Mike Lee. “He’s been able to break down every single style that’s put in front of him and bring the tempo to his tempo, and basically dictate the fight.”
“When you’re fighting him, he can almost see what you’re trying to do to him two or three steps ahead of you,” said Brian Custer, Showtime’s play-by-play broadcaster. “And he has a plan A for that, then he has a plan B, a plan C, and a plan D.”
